February 366 Project + Making Time | Kara Chappell Photography

This month went by so, so fast. Yes, it’s the shortest month of the year, but I also felt like our family was running both on auto-pilot and overdrive.

Ryan is working so hard right now, holding down two jobs that keep him away from us quite a bit. Being a pilot has always been Ryan’s dream job, and he is so happy to be finishing the last few years of his 20-year commitment to the Navy before retirement, but it comes at a cost as he balances his part-time Navy job with his full-time airline job.

So basically I’m riding solo most days. And I started a new business venture this week. And I’m sick and tired of the cold and the darkness and I WANT SPRING TO COME ALREADY!!! Okay, okay, taking deep breaths.

I was again surprised by the amount of images I collected from this month. Each day felt long, some pictures felt like a chore to take, but I’m slipping into the routine with this project and relying on my ability to batch edit as I save the culling and editing to get through every week or two.

The girls just came into the office as I was working on this post and wanted to look at each and every image, reliving their month and verbalizing how they felt in a moment or laughing at themselves in a silly image. That in itself makes this project worth it. I want my girls to know that I see them, that they are perfect just as they are, and that their lives matter.

This month we were surrounded by family, friends, and glimpses of sunshine. This was our February.
